Convent of Santa Clara

Calçada de Santa Clara, Funchal

Location: Funchal

Dating from the 15th century, the Santa Clara church was commissioned by João Gonçalves da Câmara, 2nd Donatary Captain of Funchal. It was enlarged, at the end of that century to become part of the Convent of Santa Clara, and therefore has artistic and architectural elements of the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries.
