Partnership between Porto Santo Line, SREI and IMT-IP-RAM strengthens Regional Mobility Integration.
Passengers traveling between the islands of Madeira and Porto Santo on the Lobo Marinho ship are able to purchase prepaid GIRO tickets for the SIGA network during the trip, thanks to this partnership.
This initiative represents another step in the strategy of integrating regional public transport, promoting a more efficient articulation between maritime transport and the existing bus transport network on both islands.
With this solution, passengers can purchase their transport tickets in advance while still on board the ship, guaranteeing immediate access to SIGA network buses after disembarking, whether in Madeira or Porto Santo. This avoids the need to purchase the ticket at the time of boarding the bus, reducing waiting times and providing a more comfortable and fluid travel experience.
The measure also represents an economic advantage for users, since the prepaid GIRO tickets have a lower cost than the onboard fare purchased directly from the driver.
The tickets will be available from July 1st, 2026, at the reception located in the main hall, and can be used on SIGA network services operated both on the island of Madeira and on the island of Porto Santo, according to the current fare conditions.
The availability of these tickets on board the ship is another example of the Regional Government's commitment to the modernization and integration of public transport, bringing the different operators closer together and simplifying the user experience of the regional mobility network.
